Biafra: Afaraukwu traditional rulers demand whereabouts of Kanu’s family members

Traditional rulers from three communities in Afaraukwu, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, have demanded the whereabouts of the father of Nnamdi Kanu, the traditional ruler of Afaraukwu Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Israel Kanu.

The traditional rulers are asking for a panel of inquiry to investigate the role of the Nigerian Army in the invasion of Eze Kanu’s home.

Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The Okwulaga Enyiukwu and Isiama autonomous communities had petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari, claiming they had yet to see HRH Kanu; his wife, Lolo Sally; and some of his subjects after his palace was raided on September 14 by the army.

The petition was signed by the President-Generals of the three autonomous communities in Afara clan – Levi Ogbonna, Cletus Uwaechi and Chief Ikechukwu Ndubueze.

The monarchs claimed in the petition, made available to journalists in Umuahia on Tuesday, that some members of the community were still missing since the military raid, heightening fears that they might have been killed and their bodies taken away by the invaders along with the IPOB members.

The communities demanded that the army should be compelled to produce their traditional ruler, who they have not seen since his house was raided.

They also demanded full compensation for the desecration of the palace and the return of household items allegedly carted away from the palace by the soldiers.

The petition partly read, “That since September 14, 2017 the whereabouts of one of our traditional ruler, HRH Eze I. O. Kanu, and members of his family, including some members of Isiama Afaraukwu community, are still unknown.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, counsel to elusive leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has called on the Federal Government to grant state pardon to Igbo youths and members of the group held in various prisons across the country.

He said the youths were arrested for exhibiting their constitutional rights of self-determination.

Ejiofor, in a letter to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, lamented that “hundreds of innocent and defenseless IPOB members who are mostly youths,” are languishing in different prisons in the South East states and Kuje Prison in Abuja which was based on “phantom, frivolous and cooked-up allegations”.

The counsel drew the attention of Malami to the fact that one of the alleged IPOB members, Bright Chimezie, has been in custody of the Department of State Service, DSS, without trial.

After he announced withdrawn his support for their cause members of the Biafra wasted no time in attacking Erkhraman and calling all sorts of unprintable names.

This development is arising after the disappearance of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu who has not been heard from for months following the military raid on his father’s palace in Umuahia, Abia state.

Biafra: Igbo youths reveal what will happen if FG continues to deploy military in South East

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, on Tuesday warned that there would be bloodshed if the Nigerian government continues to impose military actions in the South East.

BNYL said this while maintaining that the struggle for the Independence of “Biafra is still alive.”

Leader of the group, Princewill Obuka made the remark in reaction to the Nigerian Government’s claim that it has dealt with the agitation in the South East and South South.

A statement signed by Obuka and sent to DAILY POST, said there, “will be bloodshed if the government continues to impose military actions in the region.”

Obuka warned that the Federal government must learn from the violent activities in Cameroon.

“FG should learn from what is happening in Cameroon, the French government is receiving the results of its military actions” Obuka said.

Obuka also disclosed that the group is in close collaboration with “Anglophone secessionists and will only continue with its non-violent activities provided they don’t act foolishly like what they did to Kanu.”

Biafra: Turkey Diplomat threatens to withdraw support from IPOB over Jerusalem

A Turkey Diplomat, Abdukardir Erkahraman, who has been an ally of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has threatened to withdraw support for the group.

President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, had last week recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The recognition has since then generated a lot of controversies, facing stiff resistance from Arab nations.

However, IPOB, had hailed Donald Trump for bold move.

Following the pro-Biafra group’s position, the Turkey Diplomat has threatened to withdraw support for Biafra agitation over IPOB support for Israel and USA Donald Trump.

Ekahraman wrote on Twitter, “If Biafran Nation and Administration stand for freedom, we will be with you. But if you are working for Israel with USA we are not with you.”

Biafra: How department of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment can stop agitation – Okorocha

Rochas Okorocha, Governor of Imo State, has said the agitation currently ongoing in the South East and other parts of the country can only come to an end when people are happy.

Okorocha said this while advising the Nigerian Air Force to create a Department of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment.

Speaking over the weekend in Owerri, the state capital, the governor said the creation of such Department would help address the need of junior officers.

According to Okorocha, “Agitation comes up when people are not happy, and the whole essence of life is to be happy. For this reason, I will advice that the Air Force too, just like I did recently, which most people didn’t understand, should create a department for Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment.

“This will help to address the need of even junior officers, who may have some forms of dissatisfaction in the discharge of their duties.

“Sometimes, you may think they are happy when they are not, and this sabotages the efforts of the Federal Government.

“Mentorship is another aspect which can help people achieve their purpose in life. If people are happy, there will be less agitation.

“The amount of money we spend on aircrafts and in the purchase of arms would have reduced by 50 per cent. This could also end issues of restructuring, Niger Delta and all other forms of agitations.”

How we are pursuing actualization of Biafra – Dr. Ikedife

The Convener of South East Elders Forum, SEEF, and former President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife has revealed how they are pursuing the actualization of Biafra legally.

Ikedife, who is also the deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of Elders of Indigenous People of Biafra, SCEIPOB, said the group is in court with the Federal Government through Billie Human Right Initiative over Biafra self-determination.

The former Ohaneze President said SCEIPOB is seeking self determination for the Igbos politically, diplomatically, and through discussions within the framework of the law.

He told Sun, “Well, the matter is still in Federal High Court, Owerri Imo State. And it is left for the court to determine our right to self-determination.

“From the United Nations pronouncement which is adopted by the African Union (AU) and by extension Nigeria, it is declared that any ethnic group who so wishes has the right to self-determination. That right cannot be terminated arbitrarily.

“The issue there is, how do you go about it without infringing on the law. Billie Human Right Initiative took the Federal Government of Nigeria to court seeking to know whether the people in Biafra land have the right or not to seek self-determination.

“The SCEIPOB is pursuing it legally, politically, diplomatically and through discussions within the framework of the law of the land. And you can see that other parts of the world are doing it.

“You will recall the size of the Soviet Union, from there, about eleven countries have come out. Yugoslavia broke away, Czechoslovakia broke away and some others. Britain has left the European Union after being a strong member.

“Scotland sought to be on her own from the United Kingdom, and so on. It is the universally accepted right of any group to seek to be on its own. There was a case like that in Spain and many other countries.

“We have outgrown the era of enslavement and colonization, the era of Berlin Conference when Africa was shared and dominated by the European countries. Not anymore.

“People should be allowed self-determination. It is a fundamental right. Time is changing. We should realize that the time of domination and enslavement whether you like it or not is gone.

“Don’t forget that democracy is all about if you are allowed to rule me. If I don’t want you to rule me, it can’t be by force.

“I will voluntarily allow you to rule me, not that you conquered me. That should be the position. That time of gunboat diplomacy is gone for good. Let people realize it, that you have no right to be ruling me if I don’t want it.”

Biafra: Return my mother’s boxes of wrapper you took away – Kanu urges army, police

Family of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has once more urged the Nigerian Army to return the property its personnel allegedly carted away from their home at Afaraukwu, Umuahia, Abia State.

Soldiers, under the Operation Python Dance II, on September 14 and October 8, raided the home of the IPOB leader.‎

The family listed television sets, generating sets and two boxes filled with wrapper, belonging to the matriarch of the family, to include items carted away by the army.

The army and police spokespersons had, however, denied the allegation.

Nnamdi Kanu’s family on Thursday maintained their ground that the invading soldiers and policemen carted away their personal belongings and demanded they be returned.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother told Sun that what was disturbing the family most was the boxes of wrapper belonging to their mother, which the soldiers made away with.

He said, “We have said this before and we will keep talking about it, of all that the soldiers and policemen took away when they invaded our home, the ones we are worried about most are the two boxes of wrapper belonging to our mother.

“What are they going to do with the old woman’s boxes of wrapper? If they do not return them together with other items they made away with, they must surely face God’s wrath.”

Kanu further claimed that apart from their mother’s belongings, the soldiers also desecrated their father’s palace by ransacking and taking every available thing that represents Igbo culture.

“What the army did is barbaric and despicable; taking our old parents’ belongings was the height of callousness, and we call on them to return those items without further delay or they will face the wrath of Chukwuokike Abiama,”‎ he said.

Biafra: Abaribe wants court to inspect Kanu’s residence

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has filed an application asking a Federal High Court in Abuja to visit the residence of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu following the military invasion.

Abaribe, who is one of the three sureties to Kanu in the sum of N100m each bail bonds, was summoned by Justice Binta Nyako following the non-attendance of Kanu at the last sittings of the the treason charges against him.

In an application dated December 4 and brought by his counsel, Chukwuma Machukwu-Ume (SAN), Abaribe is specifically asking for leave of court to visit and make physical inspection of the events that occured at Kanu’s residence at Isiama, Afara Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia State following the army invasion of September 11 and 14.

Abaribe predicated the application on the grounds that Kanu was at his residence between September 11 and 14 when the army came, alleging that he was arrested and taken away during the invasion under Operation Python Dance II.

Abaribe said his agent has on several occasions been prevented by the Nigerian Army as well as other security agents from accessing the residence of Kanu to show the court the manner of the invasion.

Abaribe also wants the court to make an order compelling the Chief of Army Staff to show cause why the Attorney General of the Federation should not initiate contempt proceedinga against him for embarking on “extra-judicial self-help that have frustrated the proceedinga and course of administration of justice, which actions has brought the court to some ridicule and its power appears nugatory as well as placing the applicant in a fixed up position.”
